Premier of NSW, Gladys Berejiklian
COVID-19 has changed the way we live our lives.
We have all been facing these unprecedented times together and I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Chinese Australian community for the important role you have played.
Our state has tested more than half a million people. We have one of the highest testing rates in the world and this, along with restrictions and keeping a social distance of 1.5 metres, has enabled us to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
As the Premier of NSW, that is why I am incredibly proud of position we are in today. However, we must not get complacent.
Even if you have the mildest symptoms, you must come forward and get tested. Symptoms of COVID-19 include a fever, coughing, a sore throat or shortness of breath. If you need further information on COVID-19 or would like to know where you can get tested, please visit nsw.gov.au.
We are now focused on kick starting the economy safely and getting people back in jobs. Thanks to the hard work of everyone in the community, we are easing some restrictions in NSW. We will see more activity as people return to some level of normality.
To ensure NSW continues to move forward, I cannot stress enough the importance of helping to prevent the spread of COVID-19. When outside the home, you must keep a 1.5m distance from others and always exercise good hand hygiene.
We don’t know when or if there will be a vaccine, but what we do know is we all must learn to live in this new, COVID-safe environment.
Together, we will continue to stay safe and move forward.
